Abstract
The majority cases of congenital pseudarthrosis with neurofibromatosis occur in the tibia, whereas involvement of the forearm bone is extremely rare. The authors found eleven reported cases involving the radius, seven involving the ulna and six
involving forearm both bones in English literature.
This condition is so difficult to treat that various methods have been tried. Various treatments such as dual onlay graft, internal fixation or external fixation with or without bone graft, electrical stimulation and vascularized bone graft are
considerd.
We have experienced a case of definitive congenital pseudarthrosis of the radius with neurofibromatosis which was treated with rigid internal fixation and bone graft. Radiological union has been obtained and the joint functions of the wrist and
elbow
were satisfactory.
In our opinion, important factors related to union are operation after skeletal maturity and complete resection of the involved radius with surrounding tissue.
